What a crazy year it has been! It’s hard to believe it’s already September. Everything that has happened since March feels like a blur, yet at the same time, it’s surprising that I’m so busy while the international student market faces challenging times. So, why does CRICOS Consultancy remain busy?

The only time projects were postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 was in March and April. Some of my clients called and asked, “How are you going?”—perhaps curious about the state of the market. The clients who canceled projects were concerned about the immediate impact on the international student sector and didn’t see the need to invest at this time. In contrast, the clients keeping us hard at work believe that now is the time to invest and prepare for the reopening of borders. These differing perspectives reflect the same divide that existed before COVID-19.

With ASQA pushing for a transition to online delivery and providers working hard to keep up with the changes, I must say—we can still find the good in the bad and the bad in the good. Despite travel restrictions, we are discovering innovative ways to do business. Good times don’t last forever, and neither do bad times.
