How to add an ELICOS course on Scope within 4 weeks!

Getting Your ELICOS Program Added to Scope—The Smart Way

I help clients get their ELICOS programs added to Scope. Most clients come to me because they want their ELICOS program approved as quickly as possible. Some reach out after spending months preparing the submission themselves, only to realise there’s a faster way. Others come to me through referrals.

On average, it takes us one to two weeks to customise the required curriculum, policies, and procedures before submitting the application on your behalf. Once submitted, approval from ASQA typically takes another one to two weeks. If no additional documents are requested, we receive the ELICOS Evaluation Report with all compliance boxes ticked 😊. The course is then officially listed on the CRICOS website.

I know colleges that employ academic staff to write their curriculum and customise policies and procedures to comply with the National Code 2018 and ELICOS Standards 2018. If your team has the expertise to complete the process successfully and on time, I encourage you to do it internally. The benefit of preparing your own documents is that when it comes to running the program, your Academic Manager will have an in-depth understanding of its structure and requirements.

Common ELICOS Submission Challenges

This year, several college owners came to me with a similar concern—their ELICOS submission process was taking much longer than expected (nearly a year). Interestingly, all three clients shared the same story:

  • They were advised to hire an Academic Manager to customise the curriculum/syllabus and policies based on raw documents provided by a consultant.

  • They paid the consultant 100% upfront ($20K–$30K for adding two ELICOS courses).

  • They received the consultant’s raw documents almost a year later, and customisation was still incomplete.

While you must nominate suitable Academic Managers and teachers before ASQA approval (as their credentials are required in the submission), a consultant’s job is to customise the necessary documents for you—not to leave the work for your hired staff.

Why Work with an Experienced Consultant?

Having established and run my own ELICOS centre for nearly 10 years, I know how important it is to gain ASQA approval quickly and affordably.

According to the National ELICOS Market Report 2018 by English Australia, the average ELICOS student enrols for about 13 weeks, with General English course fees ranging from $180 to $240 per week. Do the math, and you’ll see how quickly you can recoup your investment. The sooner your course is approved, the sooner you start generating revenue.

Our fee for adding an ELICOS course to Scope is $9,500 + GST, and the process typically takes four weeks from start to approval. We require 50% upfront and the remaining 50% upon course approval.

Whether you choose to work with me or another consultant, remember: time is money! Start wisely, choose a consultant with the right experience, and expand your business effectively.
